HOMECRAFT

HOMECRAFT RULES & REGULATIONS

  • All entries must be in place by 12 NOON on Friday August 8th
  • Entries must be placed in the Curling Club in its proper section ready for the judges between:
  • 6 pm- 8 pm on Thursday August 7th, 2025 OR
  • 9 am- 12 NOON on Friday August 8th, 2025
  • Everything will be done to protect exhibits as far as possible. The Board will not be responsible for any loss to exhibitors.
  • Only one entry per exhibitor per class.
  • All articles in Homecraft must be strictly the product of the exhibitor.
  • All grains, garden and orchard products must be grown on the exhibitor’s premises during the past season unless specified.
  • No exhibits are to be removed until 4:00 PM on Sunday August 10th
  • Prize Money can be picked up at the Homecraft Quilt Draw table or the Fair Office Saturday and Sunday of the fair.

ENTRY TAGS

Entry tags must be attached to each item you are exhibiting. Please have your entry tags completed and attached to your exhibits before arriving at the Curling Club.

Entry tags are available to be picked up in Campbellford from: Your #1 Sewing Centre, Campbellford Library, The Wine Barrel II , Robin’s Nest or by contacting the secretary at (705)653-5338.

Notes for exhibiting:

  • All antiques are displayed at the owner’s risk. While efforts will be made to protect items, CSAS is not responsible for any damage. Entries will be placed behind a barrier and only Directors may handle them.
  • All entries must be in place by 12 noon, Friday of the fair in the Curling Club.

Rules:

  • Entries must be at least 50 years old.
  • Any notes of historical interest and approximate age are appreciated.
  • All entry tags must be securely fastened to the article exhibited.
  • Items are judged on age, history, rarity, uniqueness, and authenticity by a local antique expert. Small cracks or flaws will not disqualify the item.

Notes for exhibiting:

  • All entries must be in place by 12 noon, Friday of the fair in the Curling Club.

Rules and Regulations:

  1. Exhibitors of maple syrup must be the producer and the exhibits shown by them must be product of their operation.
  2. Not more than one entry per class will be accepted from an exhibitor.
  3. Maple Syrup exhibits shall consist of one (1) Kent Type glass bottle of maple syrup, having a capacity of 250 ml (U.S. 8.5 oz), which may be picked up at the end of the fair along with their individual score sheet/s.
  4. Entries must be from the current season and is the exhibitor’s responsibility to enter in the correct colour class.
  5. Maple syrup that tests less than 66.0 Brix or higher than 68.9 Brix, as determined by a refractometer, or syrup brix hydrometer with temperature correction to obtain the true density will be disqualified.
  6. All maple syrup should have flavour characteristic of its respective colour class and be free from any objectionable odour or taste. Any maple syrup entry containing any form of foreign material will be disqualified from the competition.
  7. Maple syrup and maple products will be judged under the guidelines of the North American Maple Contest Judging Guidelines as used by the International Maple Syrup Institute. (IMSI) and the Federal maple products regulation (C.R.C., c.289). Maple Syrup- Judging Score Card

Flavour- 40 points– pleasing maple flavour, one that only comes from the sap of the maple tree

Density- 30 points- entries within the 66.5 -67.5 Brix will receive full points. Entries with densities between 66.0 to 66.4 Brix or 67.6 to 68.9 Brix will receive 25 points. Entries with densities below 66.0 Bix or above 68.9 Brix will be disqualified.

Colour- 20 points- Entries entered in the correct class receive full points

Clarity- 10 points- Maple syrup should be crystal clear, points deducted for unclean containers

Field Visits

Field Crops in the field to be scored while standing in a field near maturity. The field must be at least 3 acres in size. Consideration is given to purity of variety, freedom from weeds and other plants, freedom from plant disease and insects, stand and vigour of the crop, and neatness of headlands.

Each field will be awarded a value out of 100. On exhibition day the sample will also be awarded a value out of 100. The points will be added together and the person with the highest combined points will be the winner of the class.

The following Class will have a field judging component:

Notes for exhibiting Field Crops:

  • ALL ENTRIES TO BE IN PLACE BY 12 NOON, FRIDAY OF THE FAIR IN THE AG EDUCATION BUILDING
  • Campbellford-Seymour Agricultural Society awards prize money to the top three placing in each class.
  • This completion has a “Junior Class”, which is restricted to Juniors, ages 16 years and younger.
  • The Open classes are open to any exhibitor from Northumberland, Hastings, and Peterborough Counties, as long as crop samples belong to and are prepared from those fields belonging to that exhibitor. One entry per class per family or farm for Open Classes.
  • The Open class exhibitor with the highest overall point score will receive the Lorne McKeown Memorial Trophy.
  • The quantity requirements specified for each of the classes listed below must be met, otherwise the entry will not be judged.
  • For ease of judging, please display ALL SILAGE samples in a clear plastic bag. All samples must be field samples from exhibitor. Seed samples will not be judged.
  • For dry hay samples please limit to one small flake of hay or 2’x2’ tied bundle.
  • Buckets/baskets will be provided for seed sample classes.
